Biography

Dr.Elsayed Elkhatib is a Professor of Environmental Soil Chemistry at Alexandria University in Egypt; he received his Ph.D. Degree in Soil Chemistry from West Virginia University, USA. He worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Appalachian Soil and Water Conservation Research Laboratory at Beckley and as a Visiting scientist at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, at Blacksburg for two and a half years. Dr. Elkhatib's research emphasizes the fate and transport of contaminants under field and laboratory conditions. Dr. Elkhatib supervised /supervising 10 Ph.D. and 30 MS students. He is the recipient of numerous international research and higher education development grants. He is the author of 15 books and more than100 reviewed Journal articles and the Editor-in-Chief and Editor of two international journals. Professor Elkhatib is currently a director of the program on Developing MS in Water Research Management at Alexandria University" and is engaged in several projects on the subject of developing “green”, low-cost nanomaterials derived from bio-wastes and industrial wastes for remediation of contaminated water and soil.

Research Interest

Nanotechnology-based methods for the cleanup of contaminated water and soil with heavy metals and emerging contaminants, use of nanomaterials to mitigate environmental stress response in plants, waste management/treatment, risk assessment, development of "green" solutions to environmental pollution problems.
